Dr. Joette Greenstein

Dr. Joette Greenstein is a Medical Director for Vitas Healthcare, one of the nation’s leading providers of end-of-life care.  Dr. Greenstein oversees the medical care and treatment of VITAS patients in their homes, nursing homes, assisted living communities, and personal homes in Central Ohio.  She also consults with patients’ attending physicians, supervises VITAS team physicians, and guides clinical staff and volunteers.   She serves as a resource to practicing physicians and other healthcare professionals in Central Ohio, providing information on the benefits of hospice and palliative care for patients and their families.

Dr. Greenstein has been a clinical assistant professor of family medicine at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine since 2012.  She teaches hospice and palliative medicine to third- and fourth-year medical students.  She joined VITAS as a team physician in 2012 and was named medical director in 2013.  She brings over 30 years of experience as a physician to VITAS, with a background in family practice, geriatrics, hospice, palliative care, and wound management.

Dr. Greenstein is dual-certified by the American Board of Osteopathic Medicine in Family Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.  She is also board certified by the American Board of Wound Management.  She has been a fellow in the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine since 2018.
