Ohio Assisted Living Association Appoints Melissa Shanmugam as Executive Director

COLUMBUS, OH (July 16, 2025) – The Ohio Assisted Living Association (OALA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Melissa Shanmugam as its new Executive Director. The OALA Board of Directors unanimously selected Ms. Shanmugam to lead the Association, effective immediately.

Melissa brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the assisted living profession. As a long-standing member of the OALA team, she has played an integral role in advancing the organization’s mission to support quality care, advocacy, and education for Ohio’s assisted living providers. In her new role, Melissa will oversee daily operations, guide strategic initiatives, and work closely with OALA members, stakeholders, and policymakers to further the Association’s impact across the state.
